Next Action Day – Sat 19th May

Friends of Church Alley invite you to join us for our next Action Day on Saturday 19th May (postponed from 21st April). We’ll be clearing rubbish and overgrown bushes along the length of Church Alley (between Handcroft Road and Mitcham Road). Meet on Longley Road where it joins Church Alley from 9.30am (for a 10 o’clock start).

Even if you’re not keen on rubbish clearing, why not come along and say hello anyway. There will be somebody at the meeting place throughout the morning from 9.30am, plus refreshments.

Documenting Broad Green and Church Alley

~ Do you remember Church Alley and the streets nearby in days gone by?

If so, you’re welcome to take part in a new project from Friends of Church Alley – Documenting Broad Green and Church Alley. Over the next few months we’ll be collecting stories and photos, then holding an exhibition in Broad Green Library. We’ll also be putting some of the material on a website.

The Monday after… and the next Action Day

On Monday 9th January* Veolia (Croydon’s Street Cleaning Team) picked up all the rubbish from our Action Day. Many thanks for that.

Action Day – Saturday 7th January 2012

Join us for our first Action Day in Church Alley on Saturday 7th January 2012, from 10 am.

Meet on Longley Road where it joins Church Alley (CR0 3LH) – click here for map.

We will be clearing rubbish, pruning and trimming, exploring and documenting along the length of the footpath – and then sharing some well-earned refreshments.

Street cleaning team in Church Alley

Croydon Council’s street cleaning team in early September, clearing away an old futon mattress which had been lying in Church Alley for months.
